Our Vision

We aim to build a centre that will serve members of Girlguiding and our local community into the 21st century and beyond.

It has to:

  • meet the expectations of today’s and tomorrow’s girls and leaders
  • meet current legislation and be future-proofed against any foreseeable legislation
  • provide a flexible hub primarily for guiding, but also for the local community
  • be eco-friendly
  • be fully accessible

The Design

Girls, leaders and users all had input into the design of the new centre. It is envisaged that it will be an impressive, modern eco-building built from sustainable materials and using renewable energy sources.

Downstairs will consist of:

  • Spacious activity room
  • Dining room
  • Catering sized kitchen
  • Utility room
  • Office
  • Storage rooms
  • Lift

All downstairs rooms will be linked by a central hallway and corridor which provides a place for parents to wait for their children.

The building will accommodate up to 28 residents in 7 ensuite bedrooms:

  • 4 x 4 single bedded rooms
  • 1 x 2 single bedded room
  • 1 x 6 single bedded room (bunk beds)

There will also be:

  • 1 x 2 single bedded room for leaders
  • Leaders sitting room
  • Linen storage room
  • Secure COSH storage cupboard

Outside there will be:

  • an activity area
  • a storytelling garden with a water feature
  • ample parking for cars
  • secure storage for bicycles

Our Goal

  • The estimated amount of funds we need to raise in order to build our new centre proposed by the architect is £2,000,000.
  • We have made an excellent start since we began. So far we have raised around £100,000.
  • If you would like to support our fundraising efforts and help us get one step closer to getting our dream centre, then please look at the many ways you could make a difference.
