Our Kilgrimol groups have had a busy term. Thank you to all our amazing girls, supportive parents and families and, of course, our dedicated volunteers. As we enjoy our summer break, here’s a round up of what we’ve been up to.

Rainbows – This term we have welcomed new leader Peony and said goodbye and thank you to Buttercup as she has moved away from the area. Our girls have been working hard on their Great Outdoors badge and Explore Skills Builder.  They’ve had great fun doing nature activities, including building a birds nest, doing a walk in the area to learn about our surroundings and drawing a map and making passports. We’ve made also sundials, played lots of games and finished with a parents evening making crafts, singing, selling children’s books for the Kilgrimol Building Fund and a Promise Ceremony. We also awarded lots of badges including a super special Rainbow Eco Award which one Rainbow has been working on her own initiative for over several months. Well Done!

Brownies – Kilgrimol Brownies have had a busy summer with all their girls also working on the Brownie Eco Award. Girls learnt about their carbon footprint, made bug hotels, recycled a shoebox into a football game, carried out a litter pick, held a toy/book swap and had an amazing visit to Shepherd Road allotments. Girls learnt all about how vegetables grew, how worms are important to keep soil healthy and looked at some mini beasts. They also got the chance to plant some seeds. A brilliant visits. Thanks to fabulous our hosts. On top of this, each girl committed to a personal eco challenge such as turning off the tap when brushing teeth.

As an end of term treat, girls visited Ashton Gardens for a scavenger hunt followed by games and cake!

Guides – It’s been a bumper summer term of badges for our Guides. They have done activities on the anniversary of Titanic, Pride, celebrated David Attenborough’s 100th birthday and America’s 250th anniversary of independence. They have also looked at wellbeing and the importance of mental health and getting help when you need it. Girls enjoyed a fabulous end of term trip to the Sandcastle Waterpark.
